“There are three kinds of pits:
the kind we jump into, the kind we accidentally slip into,
and the kind we’re thrown into.”
― Jennie Allen
Our Approach
We believe meaningful change begins with understanding the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns that shape your daily life.
Our approach brings a Christian perspective together with thoughtful, practical counseling. We take time to understand what you are carrying, consider what you want to be different, and work with you toward meaningful next steps.
Care is tailored to your needs and your therapist’s training. You can learn more about each clinician’s approach and qualifications on our Meet Our Team page.
When we work with intrusive thoughts and OCD, the goal is not to examine or control every thought that comes into your mind. We consider how you respond to those thoughts and whether the effort to find certainty is taking you away from the life you want to be living.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2
Support for Women Experiencing OCD
You may feel caught in intrusive thoughts, repeated doubts, or the need to check, review, or ask for reassurance. Much of that struggle can happen quietly, while you continue showing up for everyday life.
At Vine & Branch Counseling, we work with women experiencing OCD and the ways it affects their relationships, faith, and daily routines. We take time to understand what you are experiencing and work with you to develop a care plan that fits your needs.
OCD does not look the same for everyone. It often centers on what matters most to you — fears about causing harm, concerns about health, repeated doubts about a relationship, or faith-related questions (scrupulosity) tangled up with checking, confessing, or seeking reassurance. These are common OCD themes, rather than separate diagnoses, and the focus can change over time.
Having an intrusive thought, by itself, does not mean you have OCD — we take time to understand the whole picture. We provide in-person counseling in Lincoln, Nebraska, and telehealth for women in Nebraska. You do not need to have everything sorted out before reaching out.
EMDR Trained
Sometimes an experience is behind you, but it still feels close—in your thoughts, your emotions, or the way your body responds.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-supported therapy that helps people process traumatic experiences and reduce the distress connected to those memories.
Both Stephani and Sara are trained in EMDR. We take time to understand your needs, help you prepare, and consider whether EMDR is a good fit for your care.
Thoughtful Support, Practical Next Steps
We want counseling to connect with the life you are living outside the office. Together, we make room to understand what feels hard and consider what a meaningful next step could look like for you.
You do not need to know exactly where to begin. We can start with what brought you here.
